what is the sweet life?
Humans seek happiness and well-being more than anything else – they seek the good life. The ‘good life’ has been discussed since Aristotle. But what is it? How do I get it? How do I keep it? Will I like it? These are all reasonable questions.
At The Sweet Life Sanctuary we believe that the ‘good life’ is different for each person because it comes from living a life in alignment with your own personal virtues and values, which are unique to each person.
The ‘sweet life’ and the freedom of loving life comes from knowing what you like, what you do best and then using these strengths in your daily life, love, relationships, socialising, career and parenting for optimal living.
Psychology has traditionally focussed on ‘what is wrong’ and fixing it. There is most definitely a need for psychology to continue researching, assessing and treating in this area. However, there is also a strong need to determine what is working well with individuals and encourage people to live their life with meaning and increase their satisfaction with who they are and what they’ve got.

what is positive psychology?
Positive psychology is the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive (Seligman, 2005). It focuses on human potential, positive traits, positive dispositions and the social institutions that enable us to love living.
It is a rapidly growing field of psychology that aims to bring solid empirical research into areas of well-being and personal strengths. Positive psychology balances what is already known about human weakness, suffering and disorder. Positive psychology provides a more complete and balanced scientific understanding of the human experience and behaviour. Positive psychology utilises psychological theory, research, and intervention techniques to understand the positive and emotionally fulfilling aspects of human behaviour.
